Thank you for your contribution @lucidesh4.

You need to start following the Posting Guidelines as I have previously advised you:

  • State the total file size in the topic title.
  • Place the download link within a quote.

This is the last time I will be politely requesting your compliance.

@SirKenros what's the report procedure for re-uploads?

Thank you for highlighting that this is a re-post (I reserve the use of re-upload where the original link is broken/dead). I had noticed this myself as well but did not object because:

  • There isn't any official guidance on re-posts. General wisdom would dictate to avoid duplication of effort but I tend to only enforce officially stated rules and guidelines — within reason.
  • The old topic was posted as a "public" share, whereas this one is allegedly a first party upload.

My recommendation on re-posts would be to avoid them. It is better to contribute new rather than duplicated content. However, in this case, I find the re-post acceptable as it is allegedly a first party upload which is the recommended or preferred method as stated in the Posting Guidelines.

it's a bit of a conflicting one for me, on one hand like you said it's preferred over a public link as that could stop working at any time, but on the other hand it could encourage people to repost and take credit for content they found publicly.

Granted it could just be accidental as not everyone takes the time to check previous uploads, but it could also have been an attempt at some easy reputation.

There probably should be something in the rules about reposting, reuploading i'm not opposed to so long as the original post is no longer available.

I concur but deem that it's the best solution without incurring a massive administrative effort. The current system is based on trust. The community is trusting the contributor's claim to the provided link being their own. The alternative, to confirm that the link is indeed their own, the administration would have to get the MEGA account credentials from the contributor and confirm the ownership of the provided link. That would be the only way to be certain of their claims. It's a verification process that entails considerable administrative effort and not something I would recommend. Of course, one could automate this process but let's face it, the administration won't do so. Many other suggested features are already languishing as work in progress for months, namely the points system.

Definitely. Kindly create a topic in Feedback & Suggestions to that end. You may provide a reference to this topic and I suggest that you also mention Da Chief of Staff, Baxzors and Mr Porn in your new topic to get their attention.
